I’ve been thinking about Japan a lot since yesterday.
When I heard about the earthquake in Kumamoto, the first thing I did was call my parents in Nagasaki and my friend in Fukuoka. Thankfully, they’re all okay, and I’m so grateful for that.
But my heart really goes out to everyone who has been affected. I can’t imagine how frightening it must be to experience something like this, especially with aftershocks and so much uncertainty.
I’m keeping everyone in Kumamoto and the surrounding areas in my thoughts. I truly hope those who have been affected receive the help they need and that things begin to get better soon.

I hesitated for a long time about whether to post this.
As a Japanese person living overseas, I wondered if I should say anything at all. I know I’m far away and can’t do much, and my words may just be one of many messages being shared.
I truly hope everyone in Kumamoto and the surrounding areas stays safe and receives the support they need.
